FORNEBUTUR OG JULISOKKER / TRIP TO FORNEBU AND JULY SOCKS

Today is August 1st and I do not quite understand where July has gone. Well, I know why it feels so. It has been a month where our thoughts have been on an operation for my husband  on July 24th. The operation went well and he is recovering well. He was operated on a hospital in Oslo. I  wanted to be in Oslo while he was in the hospital. I stayed at a hotel on Fornebu, which is close to the hospital. Norway's main airport was on the Fornebu peninsula until 1998, when it was moved to Gardermoen. After the airport was closed down, they have done a lot of work to plan the area for recreational areas and homes. The weather was lovely the two days I were there, so I had nice walks.

Rett over her kom flyene inn for landing, og avreise. Nå er det blitt fin badeplass. Og landingsplass for hvitkinngås istedenfor fly. Right over here, the planes came in for landing and departure. Now it has become a nice beach area. And landing place for Barnacle goose instead of planes.

A little bit of the runway had been saved as a memory.

Middle son was together with me on the walk one day.

Her skuer han utover Nansenparken. In the middle of the old airport there is made a park. It is named after the famous Norwegian explorer Fritjof Nansen. Here he looks out at the Nansen Park.
I enden her ser du det gamle fly-kontrolltårnet. In the end of the water here you can see the old air traffic control tower.

On the southeast side it was nice to walk along the water. There are very special rocks here.

Like nedenfor hotellet lå Rolfstangen. Just below the hotel was Rolfstangen.

I did not think it would be so hot so I had not brought swimwear. I regretted it here. But I could at least cool my feet in the water!

OG SÅ OVER TIL JULISOKKER

MILKY CHAI SOKKER

The theme of the month in the Ravelry group Socks From Stash was "something to eat or drink". Then I chose the Milky Chai socks that I have had on my knitting wish list for a while. They are knitted in Cascade Heritage in a color called Walnut. Then both the yarn name and pattern matched the monthly theme! I liked the pattern very much.
