There were a pair of spring socks finished this week too! These are the socks Våril, designed by StrikkeUlla. They are knitted in a hand-dyed merino / nylon sock yarn from Gro's design, in a beautiful spring green color. The last years, I have knitted most socks that I have given as gifts, or for charity. But this year I have been mostly ego-knitter, my own stock of socks needed a little renewal. I wear wool socks from early autumn to late spring, so then some will be worn out. Although I mend socks when there are holes in them, they need to be replaced from time to time.
On Tuesday I was on a nice trip to Fornebu, by Oslo, again. I was there last summer as well while my dear husband was on a trip to Radiumhospitalet. This time he was going for a heart check up at Rikshospitalet. And in these times of pandemic, only patients are allowed to enter the hospital. So then it is very nice to use the hiking areas at Fornebu while waiting. It is quick and easy to drive there from both of these hospitals. It was lovely spring weather and sun, and nice to get to the sea. I went for a walk and sat in the sun and knitted and had a nice day out. And my husband's check up was also good! Photos from last year's trip is HERE. Norway's main airport was on the Fornebu peninsula until 1998, when it was moved to Gardermoen. Now much of the airport area has been converted into outdoor areas.
This is where the planes took off, and came in for landing:
Love your new socks, beautiful color and pattern. How great Fornebu is turned into a nature area. Beautiful weather and it looks like spring arrives in Norway this year too! :)
SvarSlettDo they make birch syrup there, as they do here? It has a strange taste! Those rocks are very interesting. They look like horizontal granite layers, as we have on our Organ Mountains, only they are vertical on the mountains. The granite takes so much longer to weather than the other layers. I am glad you had a nice day out and that your husband's check up was good.
SvarSlettI'm glad your husband's check-up results were good. How lovely to sit in the warm sunshine and look at the sea while knitting.
SvarSlettLove your new socks.
SvarSlettWe also have sunshine, but cold wind!
I love the wild geese they are replacing the planes now!
Glad your husband check up is ok.
I wish you a nice week
