On 17. May many wear bunad, which is a national outfit based on old traditional clothes. I have an Aust Agder bunad, or to be correct it is called Åmli bunad. Different districts have different bunad. The Åmlibunad was created at 1940, but because of the 2. world war it was first at the 50's it become common to use. It is based on traditional clothes from 1700. There are different aprons for it, I have an Børtinghus apron. The buckle I have is special, it is a Skjævestad buckle. It is special for descendants from the farm Skjævestad where my mother comes from. Many sew their own bunad, I have not sewn mine, it is sewn at Husfliden in Arendal.

BARNEBUNAD / BUNAD FOR CHILD
My sister in law has sewn this bunad to her little grandaughter Anette. Isn't it beautiful? On the picture she is two years old, but it is sewn so it is possible to enlarge it and can be used for many years. She has also sewn her own bunad and to her two daughters.
